Bionic Blackhawks to Present at United Nations

The Bloomfield Hills High School FIRST Robotics Team 2834, The Bionic Blackhawks, will be presenting on February 11 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City as part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science Event. The team was invited by HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen  El-Hashemite of Iraq, Executive Director of the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT), and President of the Women in Science International League.

 

There will be six girls that will officially present at a panel over the two-day program: senior Evelyn Sorgenfrei, junior Sophie Henderson, sophomore Maggie Kirkman, junior Hilary Lam, sophomore Maggie Murray, and sophomore Thaneesha Sivapalan. They will speak about their experiences on FIRST robotics as well as their experience as a female in STEM to promote and express their opinions on issues that still exist of women in STEM. In addition, around 15 other students will be attending the trip for the experience of visiting the UN, serving on the panel, and helping promote STEM education.
