Vice President of PNC Financial Services and father of ten Jason Paulateer was sworn in as the newest trustee on the Bloomfield Hills School Board on July 14th.

“I believe in community service and education. Being on the school board, to me, is a marriage of the two,” said Paulateer of his decision to apply for the job. “I want to be at the table and make a contribution to the education of the students in our district.”

Paulateer has served for 19 years in various community organizations such as the district Master Property Planning Committee, BHHS Girl’s Volleyball Boosters, and Eastover Elementary Cub Scouts. He spoke to the value he sees in active participation within these local groups.

“What I’ve enjoyed most about all of the service I’ve done over the years is that I get to learn so much about things that I might not have otherwise, had exposure or experience with. Just to have a heart for service puts you in a space with people who want to well and give back to the community.” He added that he “sees this school board opportunity as one to learn and contribute to the bright future of our district.”

Secretary of the School Board Jacqueline El-Sayed, who has served on the board for seven years, explains the positive qualities Paulateer brings to the table.

“He really has experience both as a board member and within the district. He will really be able to hit the ground running, and add to the work that we have set up to do for this year in alignment with the existing trustees’ plan,” she said.

Bloomfield Hills School District Superintendent Robert Glass describes how Paulateer’s character is one shared by the other board members.

“Like all of our board members, he understands that a high quality education is important for the future of our democratic society and critical for the future of each individual student when they enter a world outside of school.”

Paulateer adds that, “The mission of the district is to make young people the architects of their future. If [the board] continues to do that, we will remain as one of the best districts in the state.”
