MSBOA District Four Honors Band Performance

On Saturday, January 13, six students from BHHS attended the 2018 Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District Four Honors Band.

“Every year, MSBOA hosts various honors bands for each district,” said Charles Dickson, a junior here at Bloomfield Hills High School. “BH is in district four. The honors bands include a wind symphony, concert band, and jazz band. The students are chosen based on student scores from previous competitions along with teacher recommendation.”

Dickson, who has been playing the saxophone for eight years, was one of the students who was selected to perform on Saturday.

“The performance on Saturday went extremely well,” said Dickson. “The music for all three groups was excellent, and the guest conductors did a fantastic job of preparing the bands.”

The honors band does not have any more performances this year, but the BHHS bands will have performances coming up, with the closest one being a jazz band performance on Friday, February 9.
