House of Horrors

Netflix’s latest dark-release film has captured the eyes of many with its puzzling nature and grim endings

The House is an animated stop-motion film that tells three different stories disguised with different hidden meanings that will leave you on edge.

As the film’s title indicates, each uniquely presented story involves a mysterious and massive house that brings creepy to another level.

The first story is based around a family ridden in poverty. They are given an amazing offer to move into a luxurious mansion. The house is huge and the offer is unmeasurable, leading the family to accept the gracious invitation. However, upon further inspection, the house is nothing like it seems, and things quickly go awry, leading the family to slowly lose their minds.

In the second story, a house flipper devotes all of his time to renovating the mansion, now old and abandoned, to re-sell for real estate profit. During the open house, it seems as if almost everyone is disinterested in purchasing the home, except for a very strange couple. The couple insists on buying the home from him, leaving viewers curious as to why.

In the third story, a landlord is determined to achieve her dream apartment renovations but is struggling with the inevitable grim future that lies ahead for her.

Throughout the three stories, the animation is astonishing to watch. The director’s seamless ability to smoothly transition between the different storylines, establish engaging characters, and pull audience members to the edge of their seats has made The House an enjoyable film that is easy to watch.  The grimness of the movie is staggering but remains captivating nonetheless…

I give this movie five out of five stars, and I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see something unique; it will be an experience you will never forget.
