Loria wins Coach of the Week
On Tuesday, October 18th, BHHS Football coach Dan Loria received the 2016 Detroit Lions/Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan High School Football Coach of the Week Award.
“Every week for the nine week regular season, State Farm and the Detroit Lions choose a coach for that week. It’s chosen by the different sports writers throughout the state,” said Loria.
According to detroitlions.com, the coach selected “best develops his players’ character, discipline, and football skill in addition to emphasizing player health and safety in their program, will be recognized for his commitment to the team, school, and community.”
The website also says that all selected coaches will be acknowledged at a Lions game and receive a certificate signed by the head coach of the Detroit Lions, in addition to $2,000 for their school’s football program.
“I get the award but it goes for the whole program, to all the coaches and players,” said Loria. “Receiving the award felt good because of how hard the coaches work and how hard the kids work.”
