On Friday, September 12, members of the Bloomfield Hills community gathered at Bloomfield Hills High School as the Black Hawks held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the new Wellness Center. The Wellness Center includes a variety of weight lifting, athletic training, and recovery assortments.
“I hope everyone understands the gravity of what’s happening here today,” said 2SP Trainer Dunkin Enright. “This gym, it’s basically like a college facility, it is just beautiful.”
Coordinators and volunteers at the event provided tours of the facility to guests, outlining the collection of weight-lifting, cardio, and other equipment.
The benefits of the wellness center go far beyond health and athletic benefits; the center also provides a tight-knit community for like-minded individuals with similar goals. “Making an investment, especially in athletics, provides students a place where they can learn lessons that can’t be taught in a classroom,” said Avis Najor, the Athletic Director at Bloomfield Hills High School.
The Wellness Center is open to all BHHS students Monday through Friday from 2:45 pm to 4:45 pm. From 4:45 pm to 7:00 pm, the gym is reserved for team training reservations made by coaches.
More information on the Wellness Center’s availability for BHHS, NHMS, and SHMS students during the weekend will be provided soon at https://bhhs.bloomfield.org/.
