NHS Induction

NHS+Induction

More than 100 sophomores and juniors were inducted to the Bloomfield Hills High School chapter of National Honor Society (NHS) on May 2nd.

The induction ceremony was led by advisors, Julie Honkala and Beth Mitchell, alongside officers, Shibi Sanjeev, Carson Kenum, Karthik Nagappan, and Jack Wroldsen. The Bloomfield Chorale performed at the ceremony.

New inductees were selected based on academic achievement, community service experience, and character displayed inside and outside of school. Each inductee also completed an interview with staff explaining why he or she would be valuable to NHS.

“The induction ceremony was a memorable way to begin my NHS membership,” said sophomore inductee Dalia Schwarzbaum. “I’m excited to be a part of an organization that celebrates service and scholarship, and look forward to participating in the many upcoming opportunities NHS offers.”

As members of NHS, students are expected to participate in full chapter projects, small group projects, and individual community service projects, while maintaining a 3.5 unweighted GPA.

National Honors Society is available to join in 11th and 12th grade. Contact Mrs. Honkala or Mrs. Mitchell for more information on how to join.
