Buy your BHHS Class of 2027 Merch Here
This winter, the Student Leadership class of 2027 has created a spirit shop specifically for current juniors and their families. Unlike past clothing fundraisers, shoppers can now access a customized store offering pajama pants, sweatpants, and quarter-zips in a variety of styles, allowing those interested to purchase individually while still supporting the class of 2027.
This fundraiser was made possible by the 11th-grade Student Leadership group. They have worked together to combine the interests of the entire group. While working with Underground Printing, an apparel printing company, their vision came to life.
All profits are contributing to the Class of 2027’s Senior Prom. Prom is extremely expensive, hence why each Student Leadership grade begins fundraising during Freshman year in order to create the best possible Senior Prom.
11th-grade class Vice President, Julianna Owens, said, “Students have been loving the quarter-zip trend, and we wanted everyone to be able to participate while showing their school spirit.” She then added, “Our main goals are to raise money for upcoming junior-year events like prom, class activities, etc., and to help build a stronger sense of unity within the Junior Class of 2027. We want every student to feel included and represented, and offering class merch is a fun way to boost spirit while supporting our future plans.”
The Class of 2027 student leaders have been receiving positive feedback from their peers outside of Student Leadership. As an example, Sophia Stearns, a Junior, said, “The quarter-zip is cute and the designs are cool, it really shows the creativity of our grade.”
To zoom in on the behind the scenes of this entire process, Ms. Matz, the Student Leadership Co-Advisor, is very enthusiastic about this project. Uncovering an additional motive to this fundraiser, she explained, “The challenge this year in terms of fundraisers was coming up with something new. This is a unique one that actually requires students to practice or develop entirely new skills.” Depicting these new skills, she said, “They needed to work with an outside business and collaborate and connect with a professional in the industry. They needed to design and make design choices. They needed to work together.”
Like any fundraiser, Student Leadership creates many graphics and posters to be shown on social media and throughout the school, this process is called public relations (PR).
Furthermore, Ms. Matz reflected on the team’s job throughout this important process, “I’ve been really impressed. I really love seeing the emails going back and forth with underground printing. I also love the professionalism that I’m seeing from students and their ability to pivot when they need to redesign and take and apply that feedback.”
The items being sold include a black quarter-zip ($40), a white quarter-zip ($40), gray sweatpants ($30), black sweatpants ($30), and pajama pants ($35). The shop has been open since November 17th and will be open until November 30. Once the merchandise has been delivered, it will be distributed to the people who purchased apparel during 7th hour, an effective way for Student Leadership to locate individuals and bring them their merchandise efficiently.
