Let’s Get Down To The Nitty Gritty

Junior Brendan Howard won $500 on the new Application, HQ Trivia, available on the iPhone and Android.

Just recently, the creators of Vine have come up with another five-star application. HQ is a live trivia game show that is played through an app. Usually hosted by Scott Rogowsky, there are a series of 12 questions that become increasingly more challenging.  Players who get a question correct within the 10-second limit remain in; the rest are eliminated.

“The questions HQ trivia sends to their players are known for their randomness and difficulty. It took me several days and games to finally win and even get close to winning,” said Howard who explained that, “most people understand that the difficulty gradually increases as you progress through each question. The first few are simple and straightforward, but as the game goes on, the questions get very challenging. That being said, it is very important to have quick thoughts and to be honest, most of my success can be attributed to luck.”

Because HQ only offers around $2,000 per game and to win, you must answer all twelve questions correctly, it can become extremely challenging to win. Also, since over one million people on average play daily, $2,000 can automatically become only up to around $4 for winners, depending on how many people win.

However, this was different for Howard. “In early November, when the app had just come out, I ended up winning $500 with the help of two of my friends. It was easier to earn more money then, since there were only about 30,000 players in the game.”

HQ, which runs a show at 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm every day, now has more than one million people streaming, therefore it has become more challenging to win a good amount of money.

“A week later, the same thing happened and I won again. Although, since it was already becoming more popular, I only won $9,” said Howard.

Since the application is so new and they are still dealing with frequent glitches and technical difficulties, Junior Dom Yee said, “it seems like it would be challenging to transfer the money that a person wins to their bank accounts.”

“The process of getting the money is simple,” said Howard. “You link your PayPal account to the app and you’re able to deposit the money straight from HQ to PayPal with one simple click.”

This game has truly taken the world by storm and continues to thrive. You can purchase the game for free from the app store.
