We all love the holiday season, no matter what you celebrate. Arguably, the most vital piece of the season is the flavors, the puzzle piece to the perfect holiday vibe. More specifically, pumpkin spice for fall and peppermint for winter. Considering the strong opinions on both flavors, which one do Bloomfield Hills Students enjoy more?
For a brief overview, the pumpkin flavor is a warm flavor, with sweet spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. It is often known as a comforting scent that creates a great flavor profile.
The peppermint flavor is often strong and overpowering, fresh, and incredibly minty. This flavor is great for freshening your breath or even freshening your car. It is also often associated with the cold.
Sophomore Erik Norsted shares his views on the debate. “I enjoy a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, it deserves the hype. I’m not a big fan of peppermint, I don’t really like the taste.”
The pumpkin spice latte dominates the fall drinks at Starbucks. According to the Los Angeles Times, since 2003, hundreds of millions of pumpkin spice lattes have been sold.
Junior Logan Spagna has a strong view on why peppermint is better. “The peppermint mocha from Starbucks is fantastic. The mocha and peppermint syrup makes the drink so much better, this is why I look forward to the winter flavors coming out from Starbucks. I also love peppermint flavored gum for a nice refreshing chew.”
Based on these current opinions, pumpkin is often liked because of the taste while peppermint is liked because of the refreshing flavor.
To break the tie, Junior Luke Atto gives his points. “Pumpkin is way better. It isn’t too sweet or not sweet enough, it’s right in the middle. Between drinks and desserts it tastes way better no matter what it’s paired with.”
